Expand printing capacity, but also step into new markets

Group Joos invests in Screen Truepress Jet520HD monoprinters

Press release, Group Joos, Turnhout, March2023

Group Joos, supplier of classic (secure) printing, highly personalised direct marketing promotions and print-on-demand applications, has given its graphic capabilities another boost with the commissioning of SCREEN's commercial black-and-white printer, the Truepress Jet 520HD mono. The installation is a first in the Benelux region.

Alex Joos, CEO Group Joos says: "The investment is a major boost to produce existing jobs more efficiently, faster and more sustainably. The black and white output can be optimally combined with the prints from our classic offset printing presses. Group Joos also previously invested in colour inkjet printers from Canon: the ProStream PS1800 and the varioPRINT iX3200.   The combination of these technologies gives Group Joos a unique market position and also allows Group Joos to enter new markets flexibly and quickly."

SCREEN TRUEPRESS JET520HD

The Screen Truepress Jet 520HD mono high-speed inkjet press delivers both exceptional throughput of up to 150 metres per minute and outstanding quality thanks to its high-precision 1,200-dpi inkjet printheads. Besides sharp reproduction of characters and barcodes, the system enables richer expression of gradations in each image. It prints on rolls of paper with substrates from 40 to 250 gsm with a maximum paper width of 52 cm. Output is around 120,000 A4 pages per hour.

Remarkably, these high-speed inkjet printers with their water-based SC inks also print directly on coated offset paper without the need for a primer. Energy-efficient drying takes place 100% with Near Infra Red, which preserves the paper's natural moisture balance and ensures a nice flat-flying end product in finishing.

This high-speed inkjet press offers a wide range of possibilities, ranging from data printing such as personalising preprinted direct mail with offset presses, to on-demand printing such as making books, (pharmaceutical) leaflets, manuals, catalogues and other media.

New markets - industrial applications

The further development of inkjet printing technology is making digital printing increasingly popular. Not only in the personalised communication segment but also in industrial applications. With their latest investments, Group Joos is now ready with a concept for all filling and material-processing companies to drastically shorten lead times and set up a more dynamic planning. A production process involving the processing of paper and/or labels can now be tailored to the effective need at that moment on the production line or for the customer and that, moreover, with a whole range of new communication possibilities.

Alex Joos, CEO Group Joos: "The advantage of the inkjet printing technology is that it shortens time-to-market for our customers by eliminating several process steps and gives the ability to print variable content. In addition, the technology fits with our zero waste approach by enabling us to take the next step in reducing our own and our customers' carbon footprint. Paper waste, storage capacity and the use of chemicals are minimised, making it a more environmentally friendly, sustainable option."
